Nature: our roots, our future

Clearly, we are all closely bound to nature. That is why we firmly believe in the long-term benefits of a sustainable approach to farming.

Across the world, more and more land is being used to produce food, in particular meat. This has affected the natural landscape and water quality across Europe, and even world-wide. The steady deforestation of the Amazon forest, which is being cleared to make land available for farming, is also a concern shared by many.

We, on the other hand, respect nature when sourcing our soya beans. We use soya produced in the most natural way possible, grown from a traditional variety that has not been genetically modified and that has been used for thousands of years.

Belsoy products are produced in such a way as to respect the natural wealth of the Amazon rainforest. None of the farms that supply us are on deforested land and all respect natural crop rotation.  To guarantee this – and to ensure the healthiest product possible – we abide by an impressive body of rules that go much further than the required standards, from the farmer right up to the end product.

These notions give you an idea of our approach to food production. These same values apply across the board, in our production units in Belgium, France and in the United Kingdom, which are constantly striving to improve their performance. Each of them respects our sustainable production standards and does everything possible to recycle as much material, energy and resources as possible.

All the water is purified for example and the soya pulp and peel is transformed into animal feed. We use, among others, the Tetra Pak packaging, recognised as the best choice for the environment by the European Community.

Our entire production cycle is governed by our ethical code – which covers each stage, from the selection of the beans to the regular controls that ensure we maintain the highest standards at every level. That is why Belsoy products are so good – so consistently.
